Research on the impact of Tobiar on carpal tunnel syndrome was conducted in the period February 2019 – June 2019, in the laboratories of the Institute of Physiology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Ljubljana. Twelve patients participated in the study, where measurements of microcirculatory parameters were performed (laser Doppler blood flow in the microcirculation, skin temperature, tissue oxygenation, arterial pressure, nerve impulse travel speed along the motor nerve). In addition to measurements of microcirculatory parameters, the research methods also included physiotherapy treatment of patients and interviewing patients. With the aim of performing a holistic treatment of the patient.

Several studies have shown that work involving long-term use of a computer mouse in workers over several years causes noticeable and disturbing wrist problems that affect work efficiency and accuracy, workers experience pain and therefore experience work as stressful. . The use of vibrations with the Tobiar device is well received by workers with problems. Research has shown the physiological effectiveness of regular one-month use of Tobiar, as regular use results in better oxygenation of the fingers on the working and contralateral arm and a shorter conduction time of the nerve impulse along the motor branch of the n.medianus. Also, research has shown that the range of motion in the wrist improves with regular use of Tobiar, pain is reduced, and work proves to be more effective and less stressful.

The results of the project certainly show social benefits, as measurements and surveys within the project have shown that local hand vibrations using Tobiar significantly improve the problems of workers who regularly use a computer mouse in their work. Because carpal tunnel syndrome problems are one of the leading causes of sick leave in office workers, regular use of this device in these work environments can significantly reduce the sick leave of office workers, and the device can also be used for preventive purposes and thus save money on the treatment of such pathologies. All of this has a broader societal significance in terms of reducing problems due to forced hand posture and reducing the incidence of related diseases (carpal tunnel symptom) in the general population. On the one hand, this reduces the cost of treating people at risk, improves the quality of life and improves work efficiency, which is now necessary due to the high demands of employers on workers.
